Picture the table: the candles are lit, the house smells like sage and butter, and this platter arrives carrying the star of the show.

This vintage Johnson Brothers "Barnyard King" platter is a Thanksgiving classic. A proud turkey, tail fanned and feathers painted in russet, teal, and gold, struts through a storybook farmyard. Behind him are a thatched-roof cottage, a stone barn, beehive skeps, and hens pecking by the fence. The border is full of detail: flying geese, oak leaves, and a little squirrel tucked into each corner.

Made in England, the platter has a ribbed edge and an octagonal shape. The backstamp reads "a genuine hand engraving," and the decoration is under the glaze, so the color is permanent and has lasted for decades.

At over 20 inches long, it's a true showstopper, with plenty of room for the whole bird and the trimmings. It's just as lovely on a wall or a sideboard the rest of the year.
